Yummy Recipes

Looking for a fun treat for your dog at home?  And what about something for you to enjoy?  Try one of these fun and easy recipes!  Please make sure you check with your parents before preparing anything.  Sorry, but our shelter dogs can't enjoy yummy homemade treats because they could cause digestive upset...but your own dogs will love 'em!

Peanut Butter Nilla Biscuits (for your pup)

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups water
  • ½ cup oil
  • 3 T peanut butter
  • 2 t vanilla
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup cornmeal
  • ½ cup oats

Directions

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, and oats.
  • Stir in oil, peanut butter, vanilla, and water.
  • Knead till smooth, adding more flour or water as needed.
  • Roll out on a lightly floured surface.
  • Cut with cookie cutters.
  • Bake on a greased cookie sheet at 400 degrees for 20 minutes.

Puppy Chow (for you)

Ingredients

  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 box chex or crispix cereal
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Directions

  • Melt together butter, semisweet chocolate chips and peanut butter.
  • Pour mixture over 1 box of cereal in medium bowl.
  • Put sugar in a large bowl and add the ingredients to coat.
  • Serve in a plastic bag.
